Join me for a new story time: “My Many Colored Days” by Dr. Seuss.
This book is a great introduction to emotion identification, and explores feeling sad, mad, blue, etc. I like to ask students what their favorite color is before reading, then ask them how that color makes them feel.
How are you feeling during this shutdown? Today officially marks my third week of practicing social distancing, and while I've settled into a new routine, I'm still anxious about what's to come. One way in which I’ve been able to ease my mind is through meditation. I highly recommend using this time to develop a mindfulness practice, something that I've definitely been more consistent with since the shutdown. How are your friends and family feeling during this shutdown? Open a dialogue! I highly recommend this book if you want to introduce the concepts of anxiety, confusion, and loneliness to the children in your life during these uncertain times. It’s important to remain transparent about our emotions with our loved ones, whether they be positive or negative. “It’ll all turn out alright” 💜
